It’s low priced clearance furniture and some of it has been used in corporate spaces.

Craigslist and estate sales and yard sales might be your best option

I see a lot of that stuff as well. Where I am, we have a consignment shop that has reasonable prices, although they are often more than I want to pay. There is also a local independent thrift shop where we’ve found good items. I’ve also found that if you tell friends and family what you are looking for, they will keep their eyes open for you and call you when they find something (or give you something they were going to get rid of!). To me, this is trickier than gardening or couponing–although I still struggle with both of those! And don’t feel bad about it–so much of it depends on luck as well.

Try those. Amazing finds at all of them. And freecycle is free, and prices are often cheaper at garage sales and craigslist than at thrift stores. As for thrift stores, I do better finding clothing and smaller kitchen items there. The couple of times I have bought furniture at a thrift store, it’s been something like a side table or chest of drawers that I repainted myself.

Around here, people who do ebay or other re-selling do this and often snap up the good stuff then.

The trick to thrifting is that you have to go all the time…the quality pieces are snatched up really quickly. I prefer Craigslist stalking because obviously I can do it from home! You should also try antique or habitat restore locations…often they will have sturdier pieces and they often let you haggle!
