While I don’t believe that couples who decide to sign a legal contract that outlines what will happen to assets in the event of a divorce are necessarily planning to divorce, I agree with you that a formal legal contract isn’t necessary or even practical for every couple. But having a conversation about money issues before marriage and making an agreement about how finances will be managed is a good way for couples to break the ice when it comes to money conversations.
